Description:

The archaeological site of "El Fuerte" is located composed of two sectors: the Ceremonial Center and the Administrative Policy, the first is formed by a huge monolithic rock of red sandstone composition of 220 m. long by 65 m wide, entirely sculpted with a variety of representation of animals, geometric shapes, niches, channels, vessels of great religious significance and executed by skilled craftsmen, sculptors, of great mastery and mastery of stone material.

This monument constitutes one of the most colossal pre-Columbian ceremonial works of the Amazonian and Andean world, testimony of the hydraulic use of cult to deities and beings of the nature represented in animals that were consecrated in purification and fertility rites.

The archaeological site of "El Fuerte" in Samaipata is an artistic, architectural and urban complex that testifies in an extraordinary way the existence of the development of pre-Columbian cultures in the Andean-Amazonian region. a high ceremonial and religious tradition materialized dramatically in the colossal sculpted rock.
